Went for a drive to rivers lake and saw the remains of one shack that burned to the ice over two months ago. Gatorhunter is so right when he says ban the permanent shacks. Will be many lost lures on the following:(Image removed from quote.)Very sad to see. BW
dont worry i have all ready informed the owner and mb dnr on whos shack it was so i did my part now its up to him to clean it or get charged, and he should loose his fishing privilages..
A ban on perm shacks is a bit harsh. Here in MN, your name and address, drivers licence number, or the number on your fishing licence must be painted on the outside. You also must buy a tag from the DNR for $11 to register it. If the shack isn't removed by the removal date, you will be paying a tow company to do it. You will also be paying a fine and any other cleanup and disposal costs associated with it. The shack removal date is early enough for them to deal with it before the ice gets bad. Some guys are total stinking pigs. I know a guy who lived on the south side of Mille Lacs and spring shoreline cleanup was quite a chore. The bulk of what washed up was green propane bottles, blocks of wood, and plastic bags of human poo.
