Cheek out youtube its what I did, pretty easy just take your time and make sure you get out the y bones.  Then have a fish fry Pike are AMAZING.  No one beleives me but they taste about the same as cod or haddock when fried with about the same texture.  mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

It is a PRIVILEGE to take any animals life not a right and that privilege comes with some responsibility a license to fish and hunt is a license to be a sportsman not a license to kill

Pooley... that 2nd video is the best... ive used it many times.... works best with pike under 30 inches though....... but those are the best size for eating anyhow!!

When eaten out of hot murky water in the summer I would agree with you... but caught out of cold, crisp frozen waters.... there's not much that's better than pike!!

Fillet out the side like you would regulary do. Cut at the lateral line and keep the bottom half below after you remove the rib cage. The top half above the lateral line you cut halfway between the top and bottom and keep the top half and discard the bottom that has the y-bones in it.

I've always like gills, perch, eyes, and winter time crappie, but those N.P. are very good, when the Y-Bones are taken out and fried up,fed a bunch the my friends and they all loved them.

When you are ready to fry them, dip them in egg first and then roll them in crushed up corn flakes. Very yummy.

Don't fillet them it's just a waste of GOOD meat. Take your time and pick the bones as you eat it.

I've filleted my pike before many times but I really like to just scale it, gut it and cut the head off, then lay it out on a cutting board belly down and cut into 1 1/2" steaks.

Roll them in flour/pepper mix and fry till golden brown.

You cant beat pike.. but I love it when guys say they hate the y bones, or "they taste like pond water compared to tuna" lmao, that was funny btw.

Pike is 2nd only to Walleye MAYBE.. I rank them 1st though because I can catch them easier lol.

Ohh and I use a steak knife to scale mine, it works better than my electric scaler on those stubborn back scales...
