talk about being stupid
« on: Mar 09, 2009, 11:22 AM »
After telling many people to watch where they are going with respect to old holes and the like, i should have practiced what i preached this week. I cut a pretty good size hole in a small pond to set a minnow trap, and marked it for safety reasons, set teh trap and filled it in with snow so it wouldnt freeze over. Here's the funny part, after i marked the hole, i filled it with snow, turned around picked up my auger then proceeded to walk right into the hole i just filled in :cookoo: talk about being stupid and definetly not watching where i was going lol so because of my own stupidity i got nice and wet...worse part was i never caught a single minnow...they must have been laughing to hard to bother with the trap
Theres only 3 seasons..open water, hunting and icefishing!

I think 7gjed73q has some malware on his computer. I'm pretty sure this happened a few years ago to a member also, but nobody else could see what they were talking about. Scott(Iceshanty) might remember.

my buddy dave did the same thing, I was warning him not to fill in the hole but he proceeded to do so, picked up my brother's week old auger that he had just paid over $400 for and stepped right in the thing. It was a 10 inch hole so he went right down, and so did my brother's auger lol. I wasn't sure which thing to be more worried about, dave's leg, or the poor new jiffy 10" lol  ;D

Some buddies, always kick snow in their holes.  I asked them why would they do that?  They told me, that the snow will stop things that get knocked into the hole.  You can recover it, instead of it going down the hole.  I see the logic in that, but then I was thinking, what if you stepped into that hole with your foot?  Well the problem was that they always pack the shelter up right on top of the area and that explains why it was easy for them to lose things down the hole.  Just as easy as stepping into the hole.  Sure enough, it never fails that someone always steps into one of the holes.   ;D  They never wear waterproof footgear either...Someone always has a miserable walk back to the vehicle.  To date, they still kick snow in their holes and they still don't wear real waterproof footgear.  Only difference is they don't level the snow so the holes will still stand out somewhat.  Me, I just move my shelter far enough from the hole and pack it up.
