Author Topic: March 15th get together (Read 8138 times)

With that info I think I will show up, I get a little nervous this time of year. But 15 inches is what I like to hear. Now I just have to hope the wife doesn't have something planned. Merrymeeting is kind of a stones throw for me, once I hit 11 its just 15 mins.

What is the bait of choice for the bows there?? Smelt or Shiners?

Again don't try and go off the boat ramp, there a big pool of water there that rarely freezes.

you can park and walk towards the boat ramp and go on to your left of the ramp.

or you can go to the beach which is when you go by the hatchery take your first right and go by 1 camp and the beach is right there on your left.
theres more parking at the ramp though.

The beach and the ramp is only about 100 yards from each other so its not like you need a machine or walkie talkys up there unless you choose to go offshore.

After fishing for a few hours this morning, i think i am going to be to the left of the ramp not the beach as planned.
there were to many sleds running, making for poor fishing.
I only caught one, huge hook jawed salmon.

Was planning on Cobbetts in the morning but We have a cottage for the week up at Merrymeeting in September and thought it might be a scouting trip. Will try to get in touch with the other crew and set something up. It is late and I left messages but who knows, Hope to see you in the morning.............I will try that is all I can say.

My wife fell on the ice today on the lake in front of our house, broke her wrist in two places don't think I can leave her tomorrow. But be sure and wear your creepers. The ice is real slick with water and bumps.

sorry to hear about that.....i have seen my share of wipe outs in my day...my buddy dave broke 3 ribs falling on the ice and my other buddy keith n. almost cracked his skull.....ended up with a nasty concussion.....i hope she recovers soon.....jibbs

Sorry to hear that Oak $:-\$ Hopefully she will heal up quickly.

I took my first digger of the season this morning on the way to a flag. No harm done but it certainly is slick in some spots

even if i ended up getting skunked i would have enjoyed myself,i got to check out a couple 15 pound rainbows at the hatchery, i had never been to a hatchery before it was really neat. and i did see a brown that snuck into the rainbow pen so i guess a couple getting mixed in happens.

as for the lake,i have heard of it in the past but never fished it before. i just ended up checkin the depth map online and picked a spot. looked like a good spot for a rainbow but it didnt work out that way, oh well. ill definitly have to try it out again its a neat lake.

i wonder how the cusk population is and there average size

Thankyou to all of you about the broken wrist. She is doing OK with her "purple" cast it gets cut down from her elbow to forarm in two weeks, then its seven more weeks until it is done. Man is it a bummer to get older I remember when a cast was six weeks and you were done.

WOW you guys had an awsome day out there realy wish i had made it had to work sat so mom wanted me around for at least one day this week im hopeing to get to stinson this coming sunday anyone know what the ice is like up there after that i think im done did a lil wadeing to day down at my lake went in to just above the knees got on the ice ok got wet getting off
