George Lake
« on: Mar 01, 2009, 10:32 PM »
Went to George Lake on Saturday the 28th with a my buddy Steve, started fishing between 10:30 and 11:00 AM off one of the points in about 20' feet of water. We were jigging cut bait and whole herring on a Daredevil and a large silver spoon, plus we had two tip-ups out with whole herring. Caught six fish total and missed at least that many. Had one flag all day and when I went to set the hook my line broke, due to rotten line not the size of the fish. Largest fish was just over 30". Had the underwater camera watching one of the jigging holes, man what a kick to watch them come in and hit the bait.

Awesome!!! Glad you two had a good time.

I was in Anchorage courting a gal and at least she took me to a couple of local lakes to watch people ice fish ;D How cool is that! They were pulling minnows and tossing them on the ice at the one ???

Nice to meet you too Dan, we talked to one other group that was thinking on moving to where we were fishing but never did. Not sure if they got into fish or didn't want to drill any more holes. We were just getting through with a 12" extension.

Heck we were running an 18" extension and couldnt quite get through without adding a hole on either side to get the handles down far enough.   Kinda fun when ya freeze your auger, running, in the wide open postion haha.

Looks like I'll need another ext...ugg.

akdan i do that too often with my auger....somehow, the choke switch got snapped off the 1st few times we used it, and seems to often the throttle cable freezes up as well as the throttle handle.....it cant be good for the machine!

Wish I could join you. I'm supposed to fly to Juneau on Friday for 4 days, but I think the volcano may alter my plans.

I don't remember if it was redoubt or spur, but I've been there and done that...no fun. But at least if you have to cancel a trip Juneau is a good choice!  ;D ;D ;D

well a big group was in the spot we wanted to fish, but we still gave it our best shot. Only managed one little pike. Nice sunny day on saturday but the wind picked up in the evening and drove us off the lake
