winnipeg river

never fished at Winnipeg river but when looking at the masters guide theres alot of spices of fish how far from Winnipeg is it and how far past lockport and is this river deeper cause theres more spices than the red so please how to get there  cause I'm going in the spring

You can access the WPG river system from a many places in the Whiteshell. Pinawa. Lac Du Bonnet, 7 Sisters, Point du Bois and a number of other places. A Whiteshell park map will give you lots of potential spots.
It's a great fishery. Opportunities are nearly endless.

Be extremely careful on the Wpg river in the winter.  Lots of open water in places.  There is alot more current there then the Red.

Its an awesome fishery! I have a cabin at Dorthy lake and know quite a few spot throughout the whole system. Its easy to access about 110kms east of winnipeg. If you pick a starting point and a species Ill do my best to point you to a spot to start.

pack three meals. one for the way there, one for while you are there, and one for the way back. lol. i would say you are looking at five hours travel time, there and back. if the weather turns bad, add way more. i live near beausejour so in about a half hour i can be in the big whiteshell no problem. worth the trip. enjoy

It takes me just over an hour to get to Seven Sisters from 59 and the perimiter.
I see the Frisbee getting bigger,Bigger,BIGGER....then it hits me.....
