My pb laker
« on: Feb 21, 2009, 09:26 PM »
I haven't really targeted the lakers much. But I am starting to work at it. And learning. Today was by far my most successful yet. Lake George. The pic is 27.5". I landed another @ 25.5", 1 @ 24", and 1@ 21" on an ultralight perch rig. Luckily the big two were the first two. Both on the ice by 7:15. For me with my level of experience fishing lakers it was an awesome day. The big one hit in less than 15 fow. It was the first time I watched a tipup get straight up spooled. It made one run to the end. I let the tipup set the hook.lol I thought I could do well trying to pinpoint a hump. I had a really good feeling walking on the ice @ 5:15. I was very well prepared. And had a plan of attack. Tied all new leaders last night. 12# vanish worked really well. Decent diameter for working with cold fingers. And it'd be safe to say there wasn't much line scare. Not a really good pic. But I'm still wicked stoked and want to share it.

Sorry it is so big. My pic posting needs work. I wanted to mention. Of course I had to open that pig of a gut. It was stuffed full of artificial baits. A bunch of worms that were folded in half and a salamander. It looked like they digested just enough to lose all color but no more. It could not have been healthy for this fish. I almost think it was "gulp" but not sure. It was not rubber though. Does anyone know if this stuff is detrimental to the health of the fish?

I have heard of so many people coming into my work talking about how many times the have cut open the gut of there lake trout and found artificials that have broken off, i would think that it cant be to healthy to have a pile of rubber worms in your stomach
