"Ice Gator" power auger issues!
« on: Feb 21, 2009, 07:16 PM »
Hello Guys & Gals, I recently have just purchased the "Ice Gator" attacker receiving it
yesterday, only to find out that I need to make modifications to the adapter shaft that
they sent me in order to hook-up my 8" mora to it  ???.........Does this sound right?
Does anyone else have this model with these same issues? It kind of ticks me off for the
$$$ I spent on something that I can not use !! especially as our season seems to be coming
to an end with the rising temps in the forecast............Zo o.

They are an IS sponsor, and i know from some issues posted last year, they addressed issues immediatley. Contat them. I bet dolars to donuts they do what ever tey can to help. This is a guess on my part, but i believe the icegator is a powerhead only, that you attach to your auger bit. If this is the case it would be impossible to make every one on the market fit without some adaptation.

Your right. It is a power head only. And they sell adapters for some aplications as well.

When I bought my Gator they asked me what auger I would be adapting to it.  Then they send the adapter for that auger.  No charge.

Ok Guys, here it is, apparently I must have a strange "Mora"
hand auger....... my auger is an 8", it has a wing nut that allows the handle to pivot
& fold back over so it transports easier.....is it indeed a "Mora" ??? ??? ??? It's blue
& chrome platted w/red handles , I have replaced the blades w/ "Mora's" I did get
a phone call almost immediately after I first called.....Mr. pepples was very concerned
& wants to help me 100%.....I feel really good that I will get this resolved.......

                                           Thanks, Zoo.

Yep, I have one of those somewhere too. Does'nt see a lot of use with 4 feet of ice to drill through though.  ;D

Zoo, you definitely have a Nils style handle on a Mora auger...I have never seen that before and that definitely isn't what I have...

Looking at your fix I would say be careful not to snap off the bolts or tear the brackets or you may loose the cutting head down the hole. I have an Attacker also and know how much force that thing puts out. Make sure you check your work after each hole to be safe.

I would simply measure the shaft and call IceGator with all the info from the measurements. I am sure they will be more than happy to get you the proper adapter.

I think that would have to be a custom made adapter because of the rare nature of the auger design. JMO
