Great job NT....congrats.

Those weights seem a little high for the length of those fish but regardless a great job by you and your dad!

Nice fish but exagerated 2X!

We encourage catch and release.
No matter what they weighed, they are nice fish.
I would hate to think because somebody didn't have a scale, they kept and killed the fish to justify the weight to us.
It was a father and son outing not a tournament.
Great job guys.

From the responses and the rest of the topics on this subject apparently alot of people, I didn't chastise the fellas for this. Just stated the average weight for the length of fish ratio. I don't need to "Let it go!!" I could care less what they say the fish weigh. There were a couple posts and it didn't look to me like they were double the average weight but def. upped the weight maybe a tad. Maybe not. Didn't call anyone a liar if you read my post. Looks like they had a great time. Have a great day ;D

Maybe they ate some wire leaders and hadn't digested them yet?

Who really cares what they weighed, anyway?  I can go out and pull in bluegills with my kid all day and catch nothing longer than 6 inches and still have an awesome time.  We're all fishermen, and we all know the fish get a little bigger every time the story gets told.  It's not like they intentionally lied to get some award or something, so ease up, huh?

Both are great fish and all that matters is that you had a good time. For anyone who has caught a nice pike and doesn't have a scale the best equation for average weight that I've found is [(lengthxgirth)/25]-10 so a 40" fish with an 18" girth would weigh 18.8 pounds which is right on for an average fish give or take a few ounces.

Exactly..

The other issue I have is that the majority of the people questioning the weight are not from Massachusetts

Got to agree with Capt. on this one.  He's out there with his father.  Mines gone, wish he wasn't.  Let's not loose sight of the big picture.  Times matter..... all the good times on the ice with the shanty guys. Gatherings large or small, it's all good.  Argue over the weights when you are in a tournament. Let the rest of us just enjoy all the pics you all post that make the rest of us envious.  Way to go!

What a great day you guys had in NY!  Good for you!
As for the knuckleheads out there arguing about the size, I think they may be compensating for thier own 'size inadequacies'!   ;D

Good job dad and son!
