Fontenelle ?'s.
« on: Feb 13, 2009, 08:45 AM »
Hello experts-  We're gonna float the green below the res in april.   But we are gonna stay at the lake and hope to catch some brownies.  Also is there walleye in Fontenelle?  It looks walleye-ish. Cant find much info. Thanx, Mike.

No walleye in Fontenelle, anyways there better not be.  It was a great trout fishery, used to produce some 5 lb browns in the spring when the ice went out.  Now with the illegal stocking of ling it's kinda going down hill.  But none the less good place to catch a big brown or rainbow.  Good luck below the dam!  Used to be some pigs in that stretch of river, it's been 10 years since I have fished it.

Browns, rainbows, cutthroats and cutbows, lake trout, smallmouth bass, ling, carp. Fontenelle and the Green are awesome fisheries. I don't get a chance to fish either much but know that there are good fish in both.

Colorado.  I've bought a WYO license every year since 1973.  I know wind.  We have a 16' 3-man pontoon with a 3 hp outboard for those windy days! ;D

The Slayer is tough, he has braved the howling, screaming-like-a-banshee winds and sand dunes of Boysen Reservoir!  :roflmao:  :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:  LT/ISM

One of the scariest trips I've ever had was on Boysen. 14' alum fishing boat 5'-6' rollers or so it seemed. Land never felt so good as it did that day.

Fontenell Reservoir gets very little fishing pressure, and can be great for browns, rainbows Kokanee and smallmouth.

The river below the dam is a great fishery, but it gets a surprising amount of angling pressure for being out in the middle of nowhere (it is really not that far from Rock Springs). On weekends in the spring there will be people all over, many with quads.  I even saw a guy ride his ATV out into the river and cast from it!!!  What a knob!!

As you get further downstream from the dam, the fishing pressure declines...
