« on: Jan 30, 2009, 10:49 PM »
I used to live down in Catskill. Is'nt there a Green Lake down there somewhere? What kind of fish are in there? Where is it off of RTE 9W or the Thruway ?

Yes , Greens Lake in the town of Athens ... 49 acres , max depth of 63' , stocked by dec w/ trout , also has lmb, perch, bluegill, pickerle, crappie ...
just minutes off of route 9w on Green Lake Road. Public parking area on the south end will fit 20 cars or so.

I live 10 minutes from there and go there like 2-3 times a year (combined open anf ice fishing) the place is blahhhhh  :-\
Just passing time until spring Stripers !

correct me if I am wrong brian but the trout they put in there are pretty large. But it seems you can only catch them in the spring and thedont go to the deepest water, lack of oxygen.

Me and a buddy hammered them one morning trolling in Oct ... had our limit and threw more back by 10:00am !! All 13"-16" fish (stockies).

Other than that great day i have always found the place pretty sloooowww , i c&r bass there too , biggest is about 4lbs to date.
Not a numbers lake  :P !!

----

Great place to take a kid (open water) you can catch small gills all day long, small bobber and piece of worm, my nephew had close to
50 one day in just a few hours time.  ;D
