Fremont Ice
« on: Jan 29, 2009, 11:10 AM »
Had dinner last night at Lakeside and Fremont is covered.  A friend skied on the ice the other day and said is was very shaky 10 feet from shore.  With the cold weather we are having ice should be safe soon.

Fished Fremont the last 2 weakends managed to catch fish, but 33inches was the biggest. Saturday there was a crowd at Higgins. Sleds were cruising up both sides of the lake.  The ice on the upper end was 14 to 18 inches the lower end wasn't as thick with flooding and ice heaves in places.

We fished Sunday.  Neither of our augers was working, but we were able to find some holes that I am guessing you or BD punched with your spudbar, we only needed to clear out the holes.  We only caught one fish, but it was my biggest ice fishing catch, a 40.5 inch monster.  Thanks for punching such big holes ;)  I wanted to release it, but it was bleeding from the gills, so it has joined the que in Robert Ray's Freezer, and will end up on my wall in about 2 years!!

The whole lake is now frozen pretty well, but there are huge drifts and mounds all over.  Not real fun snow machining.

I have ice around Pinedale for 11 years, and never landed a fish over 10 lbs through the ice.  Last week I caught the 22 pounder, and this weeks fish was 42" long and freaking huge!!!  I should probably quit now....

He went back down the hole, swam off strong...

Not holding it way out in front  ;)

Good meeting ya'

It only took 11 years to get the "hot pole"!!!

My buddy had a very nice fish fish bust him off near the hole on heavy gear, then I went back to check my rod and it was nearly down the hole.  It was amazing to see a fish that big swimming under the hole, it took a long time to fit that dinosaur head into a 9" hole....

Not sure what's up with photobucket...

What's happened to me a couple times is that size block right below "choose files" jumped from  what it's supposed to be (640 X 480 ) and super-sized it (like yours) so I had to go back and change it several times before it would stay put...still fantastic (hopefully hair-saving) fish
