If your drilling holes for inside your shack its a different story though.... if your shack floor is 10-12" off the ice then you need that much more of an extention on your auger to get through the ice.Stevo
NOt to sure how to post a pic butI have made several for guys. They are adjustable 3/12/18/24 give or take no exact depth just ball park, just cut the wholes to where we want. I leave it in all year and as the ice gets thicker i pull it out a bit. all the way to 24 inches and yes it does goet used at that depth. let me know if you want one-
I've drilled a bazillion holes on frozen lakes here in Manitoba and the lion's share have been on L. Manitoba which is likely the thickest ice one will encounter. Never needed more than the standard 12 incher. In fact I now use a 6-12 adjustable and most winters never use the 12 inch setting. Couldn't imagine drilling holes with an 18 inch extension ...and I'm 6'2" tall FF
Don't know where you fella's are fishing but yesterday on L. Winnipeg I drilled all my holes with just the 6 inch extension... with a bit to spare . Likely by spring I will have to adjust to the 12 inch position on the big prairie lakes. Whiteshell and NW Ontario lakes never build that much ice.FF
