Hey Brian,
I'll be calling tonight, on my way to Dunmore in the A.M. with a buddy. But then again maybe not the is a derby there this weekend. Any who I'm going somewhere i must feed the addiction that is Ice Fishing. Bait was great on MLK day dang near ran out but not one died. Caught a slabber perch on one of them big minners. I was also getting Smelt on tip up's that was a first for me, They liked them little fat heads. Okay see you and your talking fish in the morning. Kyle

Im not a big believer in the big bait big fish theory. Those two big pike last year came on Medium Heavy shiners. Now I do set out both medium/heavy shiners on some tip-ups and some large on a few others. But as a general rule we catch just as many big pike on the medium/heavys as we do the large and maybe even more.  Sometimes fish dont want a struggle with a big bait I think. So thats my take.
If I had the choice of only using one bait size it would definately be medium/heavy shiners.

Hens ??  I prefere to think of them as Sows or Hawgs .   Hen's sounds to gentle for those big toothy girls.

In the pike world, Hens is the term used for large females because they are full of eggs.

His regular hours are weekends 5am-10am but if he knows for sure you are coming and you call he can open earlier. Also he sells bait any day at anytime he is home if you just call first.  (802) 438-5748 ask for Brian. Alot of times people will call him on a week night to let him know they are going fishing on a day during the week and he will open for the person before he goes to work at his day job.
