Last year I bought used shappell fx100. For me it was bulky and heave to pull it thru the deep show.
Any suggestions for one man something compact and light?
I need something light and compact since I fish without machine .

The fx100 is listed as 37 pounds. The only one lighter I could find online was a Clam Blazer Ice and that was listed at 35 pounds. You won’t notice 2 pounds.  I really don’t think you’re going to get any lighter than what you already have.

What all do you put in it for a days worth of fishing?

Yup. Or have one built for you. Buddy of mine is fabbing up an aluminum square tube frame for me. SUPER LIGHT. it’s night and day with regards to smitty or no smitty.

Like everyone else said you’re not getting really any lighter than the fx100. That’s why I bought one it’s the lightest one or close to that out there. Most are near 50lbs. Put the hyfax or build a smitty

yes I was going to say the fx100 I use it. It can be tough to pull if snow is deep or sticky. I have a smitty but don't use it for the pop over. I only use the fx 100 if conditions are good for walking. As one said above make some kind of harness mine goes across my chest it makes it a lot easier to pull.

Here is another option.  But I would put the conduit poles running down the sides so they don't hang up on jagged ice.

I thought that the whole point about a Smitty was to raise the sled above the snow and reduce friction, The low cross beams seem to run counter to that line of thought.

Ski's will make a huge difference as others have stated.  I am often hiking 1.5-2 mi each way at 10k ft+, trust me you'll notice two extra pounds haha.  I was able to catch this harness on sale for about half the current price, but for ~$10 it's also made things alot easier I would recommend.

Picked up an old school Flip N' Fish off craigslist for 20$. The tent material is a tarp like material. Its very light weighing 10lbs empty.

The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad.

As others have stated get yourself a Smitty sled.  Makes a huge difference.  I actually went with 2x10 supports so I am always above the snow.  And I pull the fx100 too.

So the shanty needs to go on and off the smitty as you move around?

Yes.  Unless you are in really deep snow and your shanty is close to the level of the snow on top of the Smitty.  And yes, it can get heavy moving it on and off if moving often.

It's basically the only thing keeping me from getting a flipover, I wish there were more options that were strictly windblock style.

This is why I go as light as possible. My Sled with my auger and all my gear is just under 30lbs. This helps keep it from sinking deep into the snow and making is hard to drag.

Make your own wind block.  I made this one cheap, out of an old canopy and tarp, I had laying around.  I can put it on and take it off my jet sled in under five minute.

That's awesome I may need to try something like that.

Like this?

Yes but with the sled sideways like Snitch's, basically a 2 man flipover windblock is what I'd like to buy, but looks like I will need to make.

The frabill hq 100 is 18 pounds and about 175$ Canadian. It's branded as a 2-3 man shelter but it is really more like 1-2
