hauling atv and flip over without trailer
« on: Jan 13, 2016, 04:29 AM »
I'm looking to haul my atv and a 2 person flip over in my pickup without having to pull a trailer. Has anyone tried doing that with those bed extenders?

Here is how I haul my shack. It's a small 2 man but a 2 man none the less. A few ratchet straps and good to go
Way better than pulling a trailer everywhere. Its really nice going before/after work and not having to pull a trailer the rest of the day.

I have a short box Chevy with tool box & run the wheeler up the ramp with the rear tires sitting on the tail gate. All I do is use a ratchet strap across the back tire to where the gate latches. The rack I have on the wheeler is plenty secure to strap my flip over to. The depth finder, & rods go in the back seat, the auger is strapped to the gun rack on front of the wheeler. 10+ yrs with no issues. ;)

Thanks for the replies. The shack I just got slightly used is a Frabill Caboose, so I think I should be good to go. I was worrying about it before I went and looked at the shelter so was trying to figure out if it was doable. No I know I'm good to go.

I've bee toying with the idea of a aluminum hitch mount cargo carrier for the flip over. Then I can carry the 4 wheeler in the truck box. Has anyone done this? I'd like some pics so I can get motivated with this.

I know there are a few guys here that use them but ground clearance when loading it in the truck on he Ramos may be an issue.

I've got airbags on the Tundra, should be Ok. Hard to  find a big enough rack for the Eskimo wide one. D

I have a buddy who does this no problem. Wheeler in the box and the flip over is on the cargo carrier. Works great.
