Worst case scenario, if the Marcum unit breaks down you lose all features.  If you have a Vex Double Vision and one goes down , you still have the other? Hmmmmm  @)

I don't use a camera unless I'm looking for green weeds that hold sunfish. Other than that, I have little use for them. I really just want to see a big flat screen Marcum like the H-birds of Vex units have. I fished with a guy who had an H-bird and another guy with a vex last winter and I really appreciated the big screen and big marks. Unfortunately, the H-bird unit spent allot of time getting fixed and the Vex had those trademark throbby globby marks. I will be sticking with my marcum, I just wish they made one with a bigger screen

Not me! I had a lowrance 522 with gps I took on the ice a few times. For me (a walker) Its pointless to try and refer to a gps on a unit I cant stuff in a pocket. The lx? Would be the same. And for me I actually never really need gps anyways. I do most my fishing on small lakes and ponds. I know alot of guys would benefit from it on the larger northern lakes but not me. Got a question. Can the lx7 display graph and the vertical flasher at the same time? And does it have something similar to the real time sonar window on a humminbird? Just curious.
TType,I run my LX7 with the chart/graph and the vertical on the side, you can choose to run the vertical in zoom or the entire water column, can't remember if I could do all 3,my gut says you can,but I do not remember 100% for sure.

NOT!

OK you're right not the same its a true flasher that vex makes with a second video screen...sorry not big on the lcd displays realtime on those arent true realtime not like a standard flasher IMO and at $300 cheaper vex it would be for me if my fl20 were to go down

I spoke with a few guys that tested the LX-9 last year. The camera display was worthless in bright sunlight. Be Careful before you drop that kind of money.

What bothers me, is these displays (in my boat included) are unreadable when wearing good polarized sunglasses....I have to switch over to "plain" sunglasses to get a read. (I'm talking LCD screens and some camera screens)

Does that camera allow for recording the video.

Is there a video out port?

Don't quote me on this but I believe I read there's a SD card slot where you can record video on.

any LCD has this issue...next time you buy sunglasses check for the direction of polarity on your polarized glasses.  Get Vertically or angular polarized glasses and it makes most of the issue go away....or just tilt your head about 45 degrees and you can see the LCD...

One of the marcum guys posted on another site that the 7 will be upgradable to the 9's features......so dont sell your 7's yet!
Any news on what Marcum will charge to upgrade yet? Thought I would ask here before calling them Monday. Happy turkey day...

That thing looks AWESOME! Vexilar better take notice.
They should have taken notice to Marcum five years ago and got out of the 1980's.

Consider the cost of the 825 camera (basicly what you are adding on) $500 is a great deal, plus the ability to DVR so I'm told....
