I wouldn't go for salmon in Piseco. I have a camp on the lake and fish it heavily in summer and winter. Haven't seen a salmon come out of there in 7-10 years. Not to say there aren't any in there though.

I believe the minimum length in 21" and in my experience that is about 5% of the lakers caught.  You'll have good action all day but might not even be allowed to keep any if you wanted to.  I haven't seen a salmon come out of there in ten years myself either.  IMO this lake is good for taking someone icefishing for the first time to get some frequent action on 15-20" fish.  otherwise, better off going elsewhere for chance at something decent.

How long have there been lake trout in there?  With the smelt population there, there must be some bigger fish unless they were just introduced relatively recently.

Lake trout have always been there. Its interesting to read accounts of the old guides in the 1800's pulling hundreds of pounds of lake trout out of there.
