On topic though...I found out myself over the summer when I was sold some flouro leader at a saltwater tackle shop for my saltwater rods and noticed that it was impossibly hard to tie 80lb flouro leader onto a barrel swivel.

What are these crimp connects you are speaking about?

You must not have tried a Uni knot, works great with heavy stuff, I have yet to find a knot that comes even close to it, I use 100lb leader material and I can tie very nice knots with it, I know I could tie up a lot heavier stuff with a Uni but I don't need to go much heavier for freshwater.
