In Oakland Co. Wolverine has opened, but som3 areas are ok, be careful. Most lakes in this area  are the same way. Wherr the wind pushed the cap to shore you can get on, but elsewhere you need hip boots to reach ice.

I was suprised it opened up so much myself. The entire east shore of Walled lake is pretty much opened up also. The strange thing is a few of the private lakes I fish have better ice this year in spots that are normally thin on a good winter.

Passed by a few lakes in Oakland county this afternoon. Oxbow lake had open water in the middle of the southern bay off of Elizabeth lk rd. Cooley lake looked to be frozen all across. Union lake had a stream of open water just east of the launch going across(south) to the other side of that bay, also looked to be open water in the middle of it. I spudded out to the center of middle straights lake and it was a solid 6" all throughout. The majority of Cass lake is frozen except the deeper middle portions of the main lake. I checked a couple spots in the guts and they were a solid 6-8" thick but the shore ice was only 1-2" thick. There was also some open water where the reeds make it narrow between the bay the launch is in and the back bay there. Orchard lake had a bunch of smaller open spots scattered throughout. Pine lake also had a big area of open water towards the middle. The majority of the ice on these lakes is pretty thick and solid, but you have to watch out for all the open water areas and the shore ice which is getting better now by the day. Good luck this weekend and be safe.

Went fishing today north oakland county. Ice is solid 6 inches and the fishing was awsome! Gills were biting all morning caught a nice bass to. I used a clackin rap hoping to get a pike or walleye but it attracted tons of gills instead. Everytime the lights on my flasher went out i put the clackin rap and gave it a few ripps and the lights along with the action was on again.
