I guess I was a day late, I fished Beaver Island w/ a buddy of mine and his son late this morning and got 1 smelt between us all. No-one else doing anything either. Moved down to the Holiday Inn and got a few perch, but that was it.

you'll usually see me waist deep in the lower river dipping for smelt in spring. never thought about pulling through the ice. what a blast i had watching these things hammer and fight over the jig/bait. i was using an old hand line jig. FUN
wood is good

I spent the weekend there and didn't catch a fish.  Tried live minnows, salted minnows, wax worms, mousies, and a hand grenade.....nothing... ..didnt see anyone else catching anything either

IT was not in good shape after the weekend.....I imagine it's shot completly now.....I'm going to take a ride out there after work today. I only live about 15 minutes from it.  I'll let you know what I see.

No Good.....went there to check it out.  90 percent open water.  You could actually bring your spinning gear and fish from the docks with very little hassle from any ice.....even floaters.
