Burbot smells pretty bad but i think smoked mackerel or herring is the worse ive seen.

Gaspereau are pretty stinky too!! Speaking of fish.....I knew this girl back in grade school......ah never mind.....

obviously not many people here know what a southern florida gar smells like. hit sticky sitnky fish comeing from hotter stickier fishy water, the slime gets on your hands and forearms and after seconds it crusts on there so bad that even with hot water and soap it yanks hairs out when you peel the stuff off. Bally-hoo a saltwater bait down south smell very fishy and the stink is hard to get off. pike and pikerel are sitnky little guys too!

I have allways thrown the Bubot back but everyone was always talking about how good they taste, so decided to give one a try. Long story short is I about threw up in the kitchen while cleaning it. Never did finish, it went in the trash.

burbot do smell a little

, thats why i clean them outside. ill hang them from a flower pot hanger on our front porch and skin them (easiest wat to clean them imho)w/ a garbage pail underneath, then once you get the fillets off you can just dispose of the waste and no more smell

my vote for stinkiest fish would be chum salmon though

Back in the trailer days I came home from the bar one night got a box of fish sticks outta the freezer popped about halk in the oven put the rest back about a week later the roommate meet me at the door said the next time I eat fish sticks to put them back in the freezer not in the cupboard!!! LOL the second stinkiest fish would prolly have to be my buddy...Tuna lol

Hands down, its herring. You go out fishing for a day of those and the stench follows you around for a week. Their stink gets on everything, even the door handles of your truck.

tulibees or ciscoes have to be the stinkest...not as messy as pike or burbot..but good lord the smell just soaks in ...

The wife caught a master angler Burbot in a Lake Huron tributary. Dam# thing smelled nasty, but tasted great!

For fresh water carp or pike. For salt water bluefish are the worst,smell rotten as soon as you catch them, Fun to catch though.

I do not think I have found any that are near as rank as the so called fresh salmon you can get at the grocery store. But hey I love to catch and eat just about anything

Pike and musky are pretty bad, they have that metal smell to their fishiness.

But freshwater drum have always stunk up the boat pretty well!

But the stinkiest has to be carp, man I gag every time I catch one!
