Hes got a good point, otters have short legs and there belly would be dragging against the snow.

and I guess you do not know much about otters because they are just as good on land as they are in the water.  Nice pics nonetheless

Not sure what the confusion is. They are two different animals and this isn't an otter.

thats no otter.  if it were an otter the tracks would have the feet side by side in the stride.  a fishers are a little staggered like those ones.  also front otter paws are more round and the back ones are slightly elongated but the fron of the paw is still rounded.  also i dont think an ottersclaws would show that much in the snow.  fishers have very large claws and those tracks show the presence of very large claws.

definitely otter tracks

Hmm every otter i have ever come across has webed feet...

Its 100% a fisher, besides the way it moves making it obvious, it has a furry tail thats about as long as its body... Otters have no hair on their tail and they arent that long...

Your right i miss spoke... what i was getting at is its not bushy so to speak...

None the less otters don't take strides like that... they kinda run along like a hot dog...

Fisher for sure, first pic shows with how much it looks like a cat and tracks speak for them selves, also otter usually leave tail marks. Big males Fisher will travel long distance and if from the pics looks like he was coming across south end of the lake east to west which would bring him off of Panther Mnt. which has good habitat for fisher.

Always good to get out early!
I thought about making a run toward him to get a better picture, but i didn't want to freak him out. If he felt threatened he might have got nasty.

Yeah i wouldn't push my luck with one either they seem to have the same mindset as a wolverine... I saw a video on you tube of one attacking a fox,  the fox got the short end of the stick...

Here it is....

Nice! I've trapped four fisher in the last two years around my house. They are NOT fun to release :o. They opened a trapping season on them next year in my area.
Here's a smaller one I caught.
