Use those guys advice for a lot of things
Thing is mono weakens underwater so if they do tests after the lines have been submerged the results will differ so id stick to fluoro

Not necessarily weakens but does absorb more water than fluoro. Bear in mind water would also act as a lubricant of sorts.
To fish or not to fish? That's a stupid question!

Something I have often wondered about is the strength/abrasion resistance of plastic lines in warm vs extreme cold temperatures.  Everything else made of plastic gets brittle in the cold.  I have never had an issue with bite thrus in the open water season....only ice fishing.  Never even had a bite thru on 40# flouro during the summer.  I wouldn't even consider using it in the winter.  Anybody else have this experience?

My bet is that the guys using 20# flouro consistently without bite thrus are using it in open water.

I think its a metabolism deal.they are aggressive and eat ferociously in warmer weather and during cold temps fish tend to stare at a bait a long time and see wire.
