I think the tradition is that the new guy brings filet mignon and bait for everybody.

How 'bout some kielbasa, and flattened hamburger?  :roflmao:

Anyone carpooling from westfield area by any chance?

What better way to get your kids hooked on ice fishing at an early age than to bring them on their first birthday?

Hey Capt,
Any fish reports from the Cove?   How have people been doing out there?

  Looking forward to it.

Hi gang !

Good to see some new names as well as some old.  Porter, it's a one year old birthday, Em won't even know that your in the room!  Your Russian friends were so looking forward to sharing a hole with you.

I was at the bait shop the other day and the owner told me that some one had called him on a cell phone from the cove asking where there was a weigh station as they had landed a  pin Walleye and wanted to weigh it in   I also stopped over and spoke with Shorty who is a regular over there and he told me that he has landed a few pike so far but nothing to big.  While I was there, I saw a couple of bass caught.  I also heard that a couple of Bowfin were landed recently.

I'll update the roster and look forward to seeing every one on the 30th.

How much ice and snow you got there?

There's fish in there, we just have to corner them.  There might be enough of us.

OH, since I'm pretty new here, it's probably only fair that I bring my crockpot keilbasa for everyone to try.

That is only fair!

I'm bring a few trout and a little propane grill.  I might even be able to bring a table along, it would have been nice to have one last year.

Rt 2 it is right on rt 2.

 ;D ;D ;D
Funny stuff Junior, I don't care who you are, that's funny.

It really is easy to find.  It is directly off of Rt. 2 in Gill.  Once you
cross the French King bridge (don't worry, you will know it when you
cross it) it is almost exactly one mile by the odometer to the entrance.
You will be headed down hill and there is a small white car dealership
on your right.  You may drive by the entrance as it is fairly easy to miss
but you will immediately see the ice on your left from Rt. 2.  If you go
as far as the traffic light you have defiantly gone to far.  Turn around at
the light and head about 3/4 of a mile back east and look for the sign.

The sign is a relatively small  (3'x3') brown wooden sign with yellow lettering.  For
Google, Mapquest. etc. you can use Main Rd. Gill as a way point.  That is where
the traffic light is.  If any one is still confused, feel free to PM me.

Hope to see many of my Ice Shanty brethren on the 30th.

J

 ;D

tried to make it simple lol. I learned two years ago the sign is easier to see after you pass it and your heading back looking for it.

Looking forward to getting out on the ice.  Only been out once so far.

Are there any good bait shops along route 2?  I'll be coming from Shrewsbury (next to Worcester) and would like to try to get bait on the way there.

Any one in charge of checking ice conditions? I'm hoping this cold snap will do the trick.

I was out close to home today, and all we lost was the snow on top.  I had to wear my creepers for the first time since March.

That was a pond, and not the backwater of a big ol' river though.  Think it'll be safe for trucks this weekend?  :o
