I currently live in Edmonton, but I was rather fortunate too grow up in Jasper, Alberta. I'm a Flyfisherman at heart, but I have no quams with throwing in a spoon here and there. I also was really lucky to fish one of the most amazing Trout Fisheries in the world and probably the best in Alberta, with a Beautiful View, MALIGNE LAKE(thats Ma-Leen, not Ma-Line..lol poor illiterate Tourists).

I actually just went out too Hasse Lake near Stony Plain for Bow's and Perch, but had a rather unlucky day. I think I was using the wrong bate, and set up, not too mention that I was probably in the wrong spot.

Anyways the Ice isn't bad (bout 6")but I think the foot of snow ontop is a little heavy, as it heaved once on one of my journeys too find a new hole, and forced me too turn back quickly when water started coming up on top of the Ice!(Yikes!)

I've scouted out a few lakes in the area, and I am thinking of fishing a few of them, Dolberg, Chickakoo, Coal Lake, Buck Lake, Gull, Calling...I'm sure the list will go on!

Living in the SE corner of the province, still waiting to get out on the bigger reservoirs. 3" on the small pond we hit on Sunday with a lot of little perch and a couple of pike(1 outta the ice).

Well good luck this season and stay on top of the ice.

I'm a fishing fanatic "live to fish, fish to live" I just moved to southern AB last January so I'm still learning lakes.
I love fishing with my sons. My favorite fish are slough sharks and ling. anyone looking for a fishing partner this season let me know.

You have a few good reservoirs out your way. Chin, Grassy, 40 mile. All real good, at least they used to be. Haven't been out fishing that way in years, even though I'm only 1 hour east of you in the Hat. I have a buddy in Coaldale that is whining that We never get together on the ice, so maybe one day!! Who knows.

I believe small perch and pike. But there is a pond just across the road across from the older college res units that has pike to 5 and tones of small perch. Never ever been skunked there with the little perch.

This is a buddy back in early Dec/06

And these were just after Christmas

It is nice and close for us, and a bit protected from the winds we have been having lately!

If your leaving the College by the lights, left takes you down the hill to Kin Coulee Park, right takes you to the Highway and straight thru and your first right puts you at the pond. Drive down if you have a 4X4 but it is a sheet of ice on the hill and 2wd won't make it back out. Long live my JEEP!

Welcome fellow Hatter to the shanty. Always room on Team Alberta for anyone that enjoys the sport. You missed the tourney deadline, but it's never to late to post a pic and throw a few friendly jabs at the other provinces and states.

I have a feeling that you could outfish me on my best day and you on your worst.  That is the kind of person I would definitely want on my team.

Don't worry LOL, we kept the shanty door open for you too. After all, a guy should not spend all his fishing time holding his rod with just the boys.  :o :o :o :o :o

Thanks, guys, I know that it is too late to register for the tourney, but I will surely do that for 2008.  I can lead you to
the lakers, some big northerns, and the few jumbo perch that inhabit Cold Lake, as well as the rainbows from LittleBear and the
walleyes up in Hilda Lake (AKA Tulliby Lake).  Fish on!
