I have  it will be glad to get it to you.   I was torn between leaving it there thinking you might be back for it or taking it home and watching this site.  I thought if you were like me, I probably wouldn't have looked in the pickup bed when I got home so it might have been days before I missed it,  so I did the later.   I expect to go out tomorrow will you be around.
NICE fish. wish you were around when I forgot to pick up my bait caster that I layed down at the 528 launch while I was tieing down my boat. like you said I did not miss it until I got home. 1.5 hour drive.
Be careful and a life jacket and JESUS IS A GREAT SAVING COMBINATION!!

Oh wow, thanks!  I can be up that way around 2 PM tomorrow.  I'll PM you.

My kids wanted to leave, which I figured would happen if I took them.  I had to re-arrange the back of my Tahoe and completely left it on the ground under the truck and drove away.  We checked out 528 to see if anyone was there (probably like 20 shantys) then didn't realize we were missing it till half-way home.  Turned around and someone had already picked it up.

Mid 20's during the day and single digits at night for about 2 weeks and we'll be golden.

Really appreciate all the chatter about the lake. I'm finally going to get on the ice in the next couple of days after 3 years of not fishing the hard water. Have a brand new gas auger that I haven't even started yet and can't wait to try it out. Hope my old cabelas shanty kit is still in good shape. see you fellows out there.

Hit Bear Run yesterday afternoon. Less than ideal time to hit the ice and less than ideal location (a bit left of the boat launch).  The back of the cove was well-populated with several pop-ups. We were skunked on Minnie's and wax worms.  Maybe it would have been better if we had actually been over the old road bed?  Good ice everywhere we drilled - about 5 inches. All in all, still better than last year this time with warm weather and no ice!

Fishing muddy creek. 4-5” good clear ice. Fishing in 9’ adjacent to the main channel according to navionics. Dink gills on waxies and tungsten. About 10 guys here. Dudes with tip ups are targeting pike. Sounds like 1 pike and 1 largemouth. Need to get a power auger to be mobile...

Is no such thing as safe ice.  Was planning on it.  No need to be antsy and get on 3 to 4” when the cold wasnt going anywhere. Shooting for more or less Wednesday then won’t be back on till Sunday.  By then should build it an inch or two more with what’s being reported on there now with temps in the single digits all week... and if the calculations / observations / notes over the years hold up Wednesday is going to be an on fire day at the honey hole.  Then dip off till sat afternoon And Sunday depending on the snow.

Gambler and I will be on the ice tomorrow. We are debating whether we should go to muddy creek, the bay by the church, or the cabins. Anyone know if people are catching fish at either place? Thanks In advance!

I just remember to ask what the upper launch road is looking like?  I know they don’t do anything with it.  I’ll bring some salt over for the hills if it’s getting super slick.

Got out for the first time this year at Porter Cove with Eddie Spaghetti. Didn't get out till 3:00pm but caught a couple crappie and Eddie caught a couple bass and a crappie on a tip up. Squeezed that last dollar out of my 2017 fishing license. ;D Ice was a solid 5" clear and smooth with about 1 1/2" snow on top. This was out and to the right of the bout launch. Saw where there was lot of activity earlier and was told that the bite hit about 7:00am then died off shortly after then slow the rest of the day. Ice was making lots of noise when we were leaving. Be safe out there. 5" at Porter cove doesn't mean there is that much everywhere else on the lake. Probably a lot less in places.

New to the area, but not ice fishing (i moved down from Erie, PA and now live near Beaver Falls). I was thinking about heading to Arthur this weekend and from reading the post i think the ice will be safe. What does everybody fish for there? Pike, Bass and crappie? Probably going to porters cove or south shore. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Basically Bass is the biggest draw. Bass, channel cats, pike all can be caught on tip ups. Big shiners,or creek chubs, even fatheads can work on tip ups. Jigging for panfish, there tons of stunted blue gills, some nice crappie and even some decent perch.  Hope this helps you. Don't be afraid to use spoons ( forage minnow) for crappie. I feel sorry for you, leaving the Erie area is going to be a letdown. P.I. is the best fishing in Pa.

Rocket, the Captains comments are spot on. You'll see where the folks are/have been fishing. It's not real deep. The ice was 4-5" on Sunday, and should have grown since. Good luck. While you won't fill a bucket of fish, you should have fun. IMO Arthur is a nice "home lake".

I agree with what you guys are saying about Presque Isle. I live a mile away and love it.

Can someone let me know what the attraction is to fishing off of the church? Structure, drop off, weed bed, easy access, etc. I see lots of reports of guys fishing there.
