Well its that time of the year again!! I was hoping we could get a lake picked here soon so we don't have the controversy that we had last year. Just to let you new guys know where we had are gatherings the first two years the first was held on Beechwood and last years was held on Lake Jean. I am thinking that this years event will be held at Rose Valley. I will talk to the members that came last year and get there opinion.

what about hunters lake.
I might come to either beacuase they both are great lakes to fish.
had to work last year but this year might be different.
the only thing with both of these lakes is that there is not much lodging for those guys who travel long distances. the closest place for both of these lakes is williamsport for lodging.
lets set a date soon also.

Hi ya' marsh! Gettin' to be that time of year :)
Hopefully we can have a couple of these things at different places over the course of the season. Glad to see an early start to something. I'd prefer RV, but what ever the majority prefers is fine with me. I do like the idea of a different lake each year.

Lake Jean sounds great but it tends to be more north central and nothing wrong with that. I would like to see something in the north east (pocono area) it could reach more people and more places to stay overnight (wallenpaupac areaa). Last year there was a lot of talk of a Pac get together but I don't think it happened.

Yes thats about all they did talk talk and talk about how great there event was going to be and how ours was going to suck. Then they never even had one !!

Depending on the date, if I've found a job, and where that job is I'll try and be there. A different lake every year sounds like a plan although Jean would make a good fall back lake in years with little and late ice. I'm game for any lake with ICE!! ;D good fishin

I might be interested in attending, and please allow me to re-introduce myself, My Friends call me Bubba, I'm not new here, but havent been on since Jan of 08, Wife and kids have not allowed much time for computers. Things have seemed to work themselves out and I'm back, I look forward to speaking and meeting everyone.

who ever said the pac sucked was not in the right spot. to fish the pac for anything you have to find the alwives. if you find them you will catch lots of fish. there are alot more bigger perch in the lake then most all lakes that i have fished in PA . Im not saying that it has the biggest but it has the numbers. my personal bests came from public lakes in north central pa. 16.25, 15.75, and numerous 15's and 14's.
i think the best bet for the get together is RV with jean or hunters a close secod for backups. I think all will have good ice. the thing with hunters is that there is only two parking areas so everybody is gonna have to be together. RV has parking all around the lake so people can spread out.

Welcome to the 2008/2009 ice fishing season!!!! Rose Valley is in my back yard. A get togeather there would be great.
I'll keep an eye on the ice conditions there and let you all know when its time. The forest inn has rooms for rent about 8 miles the lake. good fishin and see you there , Newberry Kid

The lake is in Lycoming County about an hour an half from the New York state line. In the center of the North Central part of the state.

I live in Williamsport and RV lake is only 15 miles from here. There are a ton of places for people to stay in town. I think they built 2 new hotels this year alone. as for space, RV is my loal lake and there is quite a bit of area for everyone to fish. Easy access as well.

Jigerman I don't think you need to worry about your perch fishing! I know I will not be fishing the lake to keep fish on that day but to meet some new friends and a few old ones. I understand your concern but after all what is this site for to help people out in catching the fish I don't think anyone of the guys that will be coming to this gathering is going to kill your perch fishing the lakes go through cycles.

r.v perch and gills have been down for years now, due to " overtaking of fish". Just like hunting state game lands, this lake is not what it USED to be. Now its starting to effect the bass populations. Too many people have kept 2 many bass over the past 5 years, used to be able to catch 17,18inch fish per trip, now your lucky to get 1 legal fish, which is 15inches. anyone who fishes tourneys up here knows that. seen plenty of times people with bass limits of 14inch fish, and they say " close enough for me". Thats a bunch of crap!

I eat a few perch and gills from my home lakes but I killed one bass the entire ice fishing season last year and none this summer.

Jigerman I don't think you need to worry about your perch fishing! I know I will not be fishing the lake to keep fish on that day but to meet some new friends and a few old ones. I understand your concern but after all what is this site for to help people out in catching the fish I don't think anyone of the guys that will be coming to this gathering is going to kill your perch fishing the lakes go through cycles.
I know all to well that lakes go through biologic cycles.
I did not say that the gathering itself will hurt the perch population it will not even begin to put a hurt in the population of the lake. the thing that will hurt the perch is the the many fish that will be caught from word of mouth. one person catches and keeps a few decent perch and they bring all there friends the next trip and then if the fish cooperate then they catch and keep a few big perch. each of those people go back an tell one of their friends about the great perch fishing, and then they go back and get some more the next time they got out. and dont forget the person that will go to the tackle store or gander mountian and tell a few guys the report. and the "cycle" goes on and on for a few years and the population of the perch or any other fish that they are targeting gets decimated to a population that will take years for it to even come close to matching the day that the one big perch was caught that started it all.
How's that for a cycle. Anyways I never said that there were alot good sized perch in the lake or even that the fishing for them was great. What was meant by " the perch action" was that there is some but very limited big ones in the lake. It would not take much to vripple the lake.
I might show up in the am for the get together or i might show up towards dusk to get some walleyes, I hear they do good at night off the south launch in 20 foot of water durring the last 30 minutes of daylight and the first 2 hours of dark. ;D

Rose Valley is a good place to get together. There is a lot of room to fish, and park. The fishing isn't anything to write home about. Everyone should have a good time.

Icewagon,,,, I fish r.v. all the time, its only a 15 mile drive. If i had to drive any further, i wouldnt fish this lake either. If u want to catch fish, its not going to happen here, but you if want to get out and just have a good time, then attend the party.

to catch fish you have to know were to go on this lake. Some times it can be great chasing flags all day for Pickeral and bass. If you target certian fish then it is harder to fish. you can do well on walleye and perch pretty much anyday. I dont think i have ever been skunked on this lake. The fishing i would say is average.

I am driving almost three hours to fish it. I probably wont fish hard untill later in the day though. I am mainly going because I love to fish this lake. You never know what you may catch.

i also live about an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes away. myself and two other friends are planning on being there. catching fish is great, thats why your there. not just to stand on an ice cube and be cold. but even if you dont catch anything the fun of being out with many other guys who love to do the same thing you do. and the part of just getting out. remember "THE WORSE DAY FISHING IS BETTER THEN THE BEST DAY AT WORK!!!" ;D
so just come enjoy the day met new ppl and see what they are using, look at the new toys they are using, tell some stories and just have fun!

Sounds great guys John you can bring what ever you want to eat I will have some hot dogs and hamburgers and my grill along with chips and sauces for them but if theres going to be as many people as I think there is I'm not going to bring enough so if you want more then a hot dog or hamburger you should prob bring it I know last year we had a ton of food left because the Icewagon and Ronbo brought soup enough to feed an army. lol Also Chimo brought chips and plates. If anyone else brought food and I forgot I'm sorry its been awhile but thank you.

Hey rat, sorry for the late come back been taking care of business since my Mom had her stroke . I was just rattling you cage, R.V is just fine with me. I've caught many fish from R.V. over the past 25 years or so . Back when they used to hold the derby there my oldest son won it when he was just nine years old . We did alright this year for deer My dad had his NY State tags (6 deer) my tags in PA (3 deer) his in PA (5)
We didn't fill all of them just what we needed to fill the freezers up. Although they were mostly full from the mule deer and elk from Wy.

RV is about 13" thick on most of the areas. My buddy and I were in Wilkes Barre and stopped to check few lakes and one of the fisherman at one of the lakes mentioned this website and RV get together. I am sure there will be 6 extra people in our group there that day.

I'm a newby on this site, and am just getting back into ice fishing after about 20 years away from it. I would love to come out and join you guys. Should my friend and I bring any food to share? I don't have the stuff to cook with on the ice, but if someone is bringing a grill etc., to cook on, I'll gladly bring hot dogs.

Wow! Thanks guys. Sounds like a great group! Can't wait to meet everyone! Has anyone been doing much at RV? I'm looking for some hints or tips of what we should bring. Spikes, waxies and some fatheads? I know RV can be slow, I do fish there once in a while during open water, but have never ice fished there.

How much dose this day of fishing cost? I would like to bring my 2 sons to this. I live nearby in Muncy and we love to ice fish. When dose it start?

the only cost you'll have is the price of gas to get there from muncy and any money you spend on buying bait/food/anything else... meaning it costs nothing to come out and fish with everyone

Im heading up to fish in a few hours and will give a report on the lots. I'm also going to catch all the fish, so we can just sit around tomorrow and eat!

Is everone going to fish together??? Or in a general area...I'm sure we can gang the place up on tip-ups, because the jigging isn't very good or nonexistent. I fished it today and between me and my buddy we got 11 pickerels and two bass. I decided to keep 5 big pickerels since my son and daughter like to eat them too. I took them home and filled the sink with water to rinse them before I clean them (dirt on them). I thought they won't do anything since they are barely alive. Dumped them in the sink and man... :o .. warm water brought them back to life. I could not put my hand in the sink to unplug the drain and they were splashing all over the sink and kitchen counter. I decided to take my shirt and jacket off and covered the sink. Managed to unplug the sink. Cleaned the kitchen from the slim before wife gets home from work. :) .. not a smart move.. I live in the area and if anybody need help with anything(except cleaning fish) please feel free to call me (570)337-9069 .. Looking forward to meet some of you guys and learn.

By this time tomorrow morning RV should look like a tent city! WOOOOHOOOOOOO! Walleye2009 and I should be there around 8:30. My old Lowrance flasher came today, and after we had all our stuff loaded and ready to go, we decided to build a rack system to put the fish tv and the lowrance in. I had some nice pieces of maple that were looking for a project, so we used it. It came out really sweet. Stop by and check it out if you can! I have a black Cabelas hut, and will be wearing a bright red Geovic Welding Supplies jacket. See you all tomorrow morning! :tipup:

Fish at Rose Valley have been biting mostly to the right of south ramp. We have been fishing it this year. Tried few other spots but nothing. It is Right out from the East ramp so if you are coming from south ramp hike to the right and toward east ramp. About 5'-7'. Foster Joseph Sayers Dam will be my vote too. I will be moving to Myrtle Beach but coming back to check my house and stay in it for a few days will be my excuse to come fishing. :)

Thanks for a great time guys! I was really nice to put faces with the names. Sayers would be a great choice for next years meet. Being that this was my first time to come to the meet, I'll know better for next year! Well guys , Ive been icing for a loooooog time( 35 years) and this was one of the best times I had fishin! I met alot of great people and heard a lot of great stories! Cant wait till next year ! I think I better bring a CASE of home brew next time. Theres still a good month of fishin yet, so let me and icy jay know and we'll get togeather again. Old keith from Baltimore says he wants to come up in 2 weeks and do it again. Well it was a great time and I hope to see you guys in a couple of weeks ! See Ya and GOOD FISHIN! Newberry

got tot the lake at 1:00 to bring some snacks out and drove around the lot and no parking to found with out blocking somebody in. the first four trucks on the right as you entered the lot took up 8 spots the rest were staggered pretty good. good thing i had a back up plan for after the a 2 hour drive. Went right over to hunters lake and fished untill 8:00 pm and caught one pickerel.
GLad there was a good time had by all. The first get together that i attended was held at blanchard and it was a great time. there wont be a shortage of fish to be caught there.

That's what I'm thinking and yes it would be nice to see a mod there if not 2. Its a bad refection on the site to go out and have a gathering right in the mods back lawn and not have them be there.

Shoot me for having a job the requires I take call every now and then. And shoot Kevin and Mike for living out of state.
I was at the first 2 PA get togethers and helped plan the 3rd(which was cancelled due to warm weather). I didn't see you at either of those marshrat.
If there is one at Sayers next year, I'll make sure I'm not on call and can attend.

Rat, you obviously still haven't learned how to converse well with others in a public forum. There is no way you can call out someone on a public forum and not have them angry and responsive. It's comments like yours that keep mods from attending these events.

Well when you plan the event in Nov. You think they would have enough time to get it off. I'm sorry Your right I shouldn't have said anything.
