Jan 12
Jan 26
Feb 9
Feb23

I was thinking letting the ice get thick enough for machines 12th may be questionable, whats everyone else thinking  ???
I agree about thick enough for machines.  I usually won't even start unless I can get on safely with my snowmobile.  So I'm good with the last 3 dates.

Utah GTG - New date information
There are several conflicts out there this year with regards to a GTG.  KSL is hosting a DWR sponsored event over 3 different weekends; the KSL Trifishalon.  It covers 3 reservoirs; Scofield on December 29, Rockport on January 19, and Strawberry on February 9.  The Burbot bash will be on over 1 February through 3 February.  And don’t forget the Cisco Disco on January 26.  These events pretty much knock out the GTG on January 26 and February 9.

In January the open dates are the 5th and 12th; in February the open dates will be the 16th and 23rd.  I would think the January 5 date MIGHT be a tad early for Pineview but that would be hard to tell this early.  Either day in February is a good bet for safe ice as would be January 12th (probably).  For myself, I am planning on attending the Trifishalon events as an observer only (I don’t do tournaments).  There are going to be some venders there and I think they will be doing some displays of equipment and techniques that just might come in handy.  I won’t be doing the Burbot Bash because it is a tournament and you already know my feelings along those lines.  And I’m not into Cisco dipping as I grew up in Michigan dipping smelt, and quite frankly, the 30 Cisco limit isn’t nearly enough to make a trip to Bear Lake worth it to me.  I’d want at least a hundred of them to eat.

So what say the rest of you - January 5/12 or February 16/23?

So start the poll already.  I think we're good with Pineview as the place, we need a date.  Set up a poll and ask us to choose a date - like maybe Jan 12, Feb 16, or Feb 23.   ;D

I think Feb 16 would work. I'm also about 20 mins from pine view so that would work for me.  Also I hope to see some of you at the NAIFC tourney in west Yellowstone on Feb 2nd.  Only about 4 hrs from ogden and a heck of a good tourney.

You guys need to put your vote in for the date on "The Utah GTG date poll thread" hoosier has this poll up for 5 days and he will close it on the 3rd of jan. The thread is located in the same area as this thread (highlighted tan threads at the top of the utah page)

I dont see why not prospector, i have never stayed past midnight over the last few years but do plan on doing some all niters this year. Access to the ice is not behind any locked gates so coming and going can be done at all times. I will have the kids with me at the GTG but if my girl will take them home with her i would be game to stay all night, but then again thats if she will  ??? She may even not go  ??? I will let you know as soon as i get the pass though

Thanks! My family is mostly in Salt Lake and I see few reasons to trade fishing time for driving time. Might even head to Strawberry that night to get on the trout early.

Oops!  It's been brought to my attention that I have an annual meeting to go to on Saturday at 9 AM.  Since I have not figured out how to be in two places at the same time, I guess I will NOT be at the IS GTG this Saturday.  Have fun and take home ALL the perch you catch.   ;D
