I fish alot for lakers in Lake George, NY and I have seen several different color lakers.  Ive seen ones dark like yours but I was out today and we cought a 26" that was very light in color.  I'm not sure why the difference in color but I know that there can be different color ones in the same body of water.

I've also seen some other lakers from the ponds and lakes in the Adirondacks that are kinda silver in color and have almost a peach color to them.  I love catching those they are beautiful.  Almost doesnt look like a laker.  But I have seen it in differnt bodies of water.  Maybe there is something to the what they eat thing.

All in all though thats a beauty and I would probobly find a spot on my wall for it.

For those that fish lake george NY, PLEASE DONT LET THE STATE LOWER THE LAKE TROUT SIZE IN LAKE GEORGE!!!!!!!!!!

Most lakers you will get out of lake george are lighter in color, and more of a green because the lake is so clear. However I've caught lakers out of schroon and lake george that are the darker brown color like the one the OP posted. Also, the state record cisco is 5lbs 7oz.
