I picked up the fleece Ice Armor hat for $10. It's got a windproof liner that should make it good for windy days.

x2

I also have a rabbit fur bomber hat. I find it too warm for most days. I only wear it on the very cold windy days.

The best hat is the one you like.  Found one 2 years ago I like at Old Navy, got two more later so I would always have one.  Scandinavian style, thick water-resistant corduroy with something like lambs wool inside, good looking go anywhere winter hat, often asked where I got it.  Very warm and not sweaty, no earflaps.  I wear a thick fleece or wool scarf and also a hood, so no problem.  Looks like a 3 lb butter container with a bill.  (wish I knew how to post a picture)

this hat is my all time favorite, it's warm, comfortable, lightweight, waterproof, windproof, and it covers my ears.
the brand is "Get a Klu" and they come in all sorts of shapes, colors, styles, and they make other gear too.

Got a Mad Bomber with Rabbit Fur.  At times when you're walking a lot it can be too worm.

I like the micro fleece hats with the ear covers, warm, lightweight, even if you get it sweaty, its still warm ! Ditto on the Bomber for the below zero days !

My choices for hats depend on the weather!!  85% of the time this is all that is needed:

12 %  this

2 % the bomber   but it really has to be nasty out there

BTW  don't start off the season with your heavyest clothing and hats    your wasting them    save the heavy super warm stuff when it really gets cold!!!

The best stocking cap I found is at walmart. It's like two hats sewn together.

If I am outside I use the hood or a snowmobile face mask hoodie for under a helmet.

Have two hats for really cold weather. One, my old Air Force Trooper O.D. Sateen with fur and two, a Camo Fleece Mad Bomber. They are usually too warm when moving around a lot so I usually wear one of several stocking caps or ski masks depending on the weather and where I finally set up..
