Erie is the best hands down!!! My personal best is 17 1/2"no bull and not just one their are some slobs in in this lake.

Last February I got 8 lbs of filets from a limit of 50 nice ones I caught 5 miles off Sturgeon Point on Lake Erie
When you can get out there Erie can't be beat!

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Sacandaga Reservoir. Strange perch fishery. I'm not sure anyone fishes for them, and most are caught on tip-ups, not jigging. But there are always a bunch of 14" plus fish entered in the tournaments.

Seneca puts out more 2lb+ perch a year than any other lake.

I jigged up a slob on Sunday on the sac there are some big perch in there!

Seneca is tough to beat, but I have taken some real pigs from Skaneateles, Owasco, Cayuga and Kueka. I think any of the deep Fingerlakes are capable of producing some big perch. Never fished Erie for perch, but I'm sure it's fantastic. Oneida is also producing big perch, almost equal to Seneca in my opinion. Lake George is good, but size wise on average, I don't think can compare with Oneida or the Fingerlakes. Some of the finest eating though. As far as Chaumont goes, I have to say no comparison to Oneida, Fingerlakes or probably Erie. I fish Chaumont and Seneca A LOT, and sorry, on average, they're just not that big up there (on Ontario). Seneca and Lake George are the best eating perch I've ever had.

Erie is a powerhouse and with its size and abundant numbers it's hard to think about driving anywhere else once its safe(even though it's never truly safe).. Home court advantage doesn't hurt. I grew up 5 minutes from the lake and have caught plenty. And BTW I think we have the belt still!! 3.6 lbs if I remember correctly?? The bigger perch are off of Pinehurst!

I'm going to say Seneca as well. Being from Watkins Glen and fishing for them often its a lake that is hard to beat. It also has some monster browns.

Seneca is great but isn't this ICE shanty?? good luck getting on top on Seneca....the lake has been taking a beating the past few years. Meat hunters/sellers using cameras and sonar are crushing the big females and taking over limits. Expet it to drop off the next few years. AS big as it is it stil cant handle that knd of pressure. For actual ice fishing I will go with Erie overall but the finger lakes that do freeze offer good fishing as well....

I agree that Seneca has taken a beating the last decade. Still a quality fishery, but I have seen a decline in both quantity and quality over the years. More and more guys on the water every year too. Still damn good though.

Came off the ice at Sturgeon Pt. one day with a bucket of slobs. Was pretty new to ice fishing and was my first year fishing Erie. I had caught a 15.5" perch that fought like a smallmouth. To that point it was the biggest perch I had ever seen. I could hardly believe my eyes, I guess I never realized how big they could get. The guys coming off the ice at the same time happened to be parked near me. I could see they were as excited as I was and we began to talk about how great a day we had. I proudly showed them my monster perch and they politely told me that I needed to see there monster. They had a slob that they said was 18.25". I didn't ask them to prove it or anything, but I know my fish looked small when held up side by side. He said he was going to have it mounted. I hope he did, what a pig, what a fishery. Erie gets my vote.
