There are a lot of fancier ones out there, but all I need is a place to be warm and a place to sleep. I had a Palomino popup camper that I converted for ice fiahing and my son and I fished out of it for about 8 years. I put it up for sale last winter and since it didn't have the wheels that lift up no one wanted to pay much for it. I figured that since people wanted me to give it away I would. I gave it to my nephews and they will be using it starting this winter. It has a three burner stove, bunks, 12v lights and cupboards. It worked great for me for a long time.

We retired ours two seasons ago and bought this one for a song last fall... with the ice not thickening til February we opted not to put it out last year.

Needs exterior paint, runners (those are just 2X4's to keep it outta the mud), a bunk over the wooden bench and we wanna insulate that steel tank to have a permanent aerated bait tank out in the shack.  Oh yeah, a weed eater to bushwack our way to the front door

Here's the bench and bait tank.

Firewood closet

Sandblasted and primered wood stove

Will keep ya's posted with the upgrades...

Bucketmouth: That's an alright shack. Hey, I'm gonna cop the firewood closet idea for my 8x8! Seems like a good idea to save space.

Pretty heavy and the wind really beats it up but if done right it will last.  We made one in High School 15 years ago and it still goes out 10 to 12 time a year with us.  Here are a few of that one

Well, here is the one I've used for the past 3 years.  She sold last weekend for $400!!!!!!!!!! New shack will be started next week. It should be pretty awesome.  My buddy and I have built 6 hardsiders over the years and we think we finally know exactly what we want.

Anyway here is the sold shack.

When you do, will you please tell us?  I am on my 4th shack, and usually have plans for the next one started before I've finished the current one!

This one was called 'IceHoles" or "I1". I helped build it and later purchased from a friend we call "Kapt .Overkill".
It fished 3 guys nicely, had built in interior, exterior lighting, stereo and a TV running off a power inverter and some deep cycle batteries.

It was a great shanty but was not ideal for CT.I could not leave it on the ice for fear of vandals and had to remove it after each trip which became a royal pain in the a$$.It was also heavy and to low to the ice. So I sold it on Ebay to someone in Maine for a smelt shack  last fall and purchased a Frabill Ranger XLS portable.

I built this for myself for last season. Most materials were salvaged from garbage etc. I might have $20 into it. Used Cazy Crpaet on the runners

Very nice, Bellybuster!  Looks like you might need to make a 3 holer!  Looks like you have two aspiring ice fishers to help you out.

What did you use for the cover?  Did you sew it?
