Well, I got through to his family this evening.  He is not out of the woods yet the way it sounds.  They got his left leg all fixed up, but his right leg is still a 50/50 shot.  They weren't able to do much with it because of infection.  It now sounds like he will be in the hospital longer than expected.  They thought maybe he could make it out before X-Mas but it is now a slim chance.  I really feel for his family, it is going to be a rough holiday season for them.  They are like my 2nd family.   They kinda took me in after my dad passed away and are the ones credited for teaching me alot of the hunting & fishing info I use today.  I am putting in a few extra hours at work to help give them a somewhat happy holidays.

In the mean time, I will continue to thank the lord he is alive and that I might just get lucky and win the lottery to help my BEST BUD out.

Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers, just can't thank you great guys/gals out enough.

Till my next update,

Greg

Just in case some of you would like to see a pic of what he looks like, here is a pic from our last trip with him in Sept.  We were after crappies.  I am on left, my tourney partner is in the middle, and Scott is to the right.  ENJOY!

Talked to him today for a few minutes before they wisked him back off to surgery.  He sounded pretty lonely.  All his family went home yesterday and he went through surgery and recovery today on his own.  Wish I could have been there for him.  Sure hope I get to see him over x-mas vacation.

Thanks again everyone and keep the prayers coming as I am sending a copy of this to him with a card at the end of this week.

Got it missy!  Talked to him today for a bit.  He is doing alot better.  He is anxious to get home.  He said a church in Russell is putting the whole family up in a hotel for the holiday's.  That is going to be good to have the whole family with him for X-mas.  I also am going to start taking donations to my paypal account for him if anyone is interested.  I just got to get his bank info to make deposits for him.

That is all I have for now,

Greg

The yearly Mass for the safety and wellbeing of all fishermen is being said at Our Lady of the Snows church, a small RC church(1800's vintage) on the shores of one of our lakes this Sunday.  Our prayers are with your partner!!!

He's an ice fisherman? Then he's all set. I've never heard of an ice fisherman leaving before his time, especially when the season is just getting started, stubborn as mule. He will be 1st in my prayers, then a large tiger muskie. God bless.

greg,
thank GOD for a good friend that didn't mind asking for prayers on this site, many men wouldn't do it.  i just read it today and realized that it was originated on dec. 9th.  i just said a prayer myself, and will ask our church to pray for him as well.  i can not say it and pray any better than the preacherman did, he said it all.  please let us know how he is doing now, and to all, let's not forget our SAVIOUR whenever we go out fishing or travelling or any thing, without HIM we would have nothing.  ask HIM for safety.  thanks all and GOD BLESS.

What is going on here?  This forum has 100's of members and our fellow outdoorsman only gets 88 get well posts. ???

He is really looking for some support here.  This guy is pretty bummed out cause he can't get out in the outdoors.  It is only fitting that we all wish him well.  Prayers heal, that is what he needs.  Not trying to get anyone feathers ruffled.  Just trying to get my buddy's spirits up.  It has got to be pretty rough being laid up in a hospital for about a month with both of your legs broken up.

On a GOOD note though, talked to him yesterday and they are hoping to have him out within the week.  They are working him off the morphine now.  He says it is pretty tuff with no painkillers.  He will still have another surgery to put the rod in his right leg in about a month.

So lets give this guys some props.  He is going to need it.
