Why don't you test this one out. You coould be one of the guinea pigs.
As a general rule, and especially when there is this much moola involved, I am usually one of the last to try something new.
LCDs haven't been proven to me to be better than flashers. On the ice you are looking at a cone below your hole.
On open water I can see where an LCD proves better than a flasher (a lot of open water anglers still use flashers when vertical jigging and in fly-in or rental boat situations).
The one plus to some LCD units is the price can be a good bit lower than a flasher. But you still need to spend time and money to rig them up for the ice.
