Exactly. Ice camping is definitely something I want to try a few times this year...heck, maybe I'll bring my hub, heater, and a cot to the gathering and just keep on fishing/drinking through the night!
Flaming gorge is one of our main places we spend our winters. Chase lakers all day and sit around ice camp at night and catch burbot and pups. Now if we could just get the big lakers to cooperate in the day I wouldn't have to go anywhere else sorry to muck up your gathering thread
No problem we step on threads all the time. Im down for ice camping if I can drive my rig out onto the ice!
Maybe we should make a trip out to the Gorge in the near future? Not like work will get in the way...for YOU at least!
When do they get safe ice at Lake Havasu?
Chatty it is that way Slayer can pick me up on the wayIf not I wonder if Uber XL would pick me up at a state park boat ramp.
Last year it wasn't really like we were fishing I think maybe one crappie was caught between 15 to 20 guys over 6 to 8 hours? we might have been able to produce the same amount of fish in somebody's backyard it'd be nice to actually catch fish at the get together
St. Vrain it is!
BWAHAHA.... nope. Location: Chatfield State Park, Marina Parking LotIf I remember last time, we walked out from there. Other ideas? Is the construction screwing the marina up?
Chatfield ponds!
If the ranger says it aint 6" thick they kick you off the ice!
CO_Dinky should have some intel on that. The North boat cove might be an option. Pretty easy walk to the water.
The North Ramp could be good, too. I know parking is ok there --- at least it was in the fall. Easy access to set up Sausage Fest Basecamp. And we could just walk out along the dam to better fishing locations once the "magic hour" arrives for those who want to seriously chase some fish. But whatever people think is fine!We have plenty of time to decide.
Tell that to the bastid that kicked me off!
What??? When did that happen? I've not seen the rangers say that ice access was not allowed, it's usually up to the individual to decide what's safe. I know you'll fish when it's just "thickafugginuff" though!
I was talking the ponds to North of Chatty. They're controlled by City of Littleton.
Yah I like the ponds idea. Easy and perch easy. You can even fish the river for those pre-spawn walleyes!
