Nice job getting out T!

Haters will hate. Get out and explore, you will be surprised what you can find. Like I mentioned before, I also have a fishable spot but my heart is still in the woods right now.
Just add water.

was dark so tough to take any. after I got back I knew I thould of taken a pic of the flasher on the ice in the dark. but if I did that I would have to put today's newspaper in the pic as well.

And turn your location off. LOL

that's never been on. also with the post image format of adding pics to this site it blocks out metadata anyway it seems.

Small ponds holding what little ice we have in central ma. Hopefully holds up and doesn’t rain like the last couple of years.

Got out for a hour today. No fish but plenty of ice on this pond even though everything down the road is open

The small pond on top of Mt. Greylock?  Berry Pond in Pittsfield State Forest?  Or something else?

I thought the same thing.  I'll let him answer but its not the highest elevation in the state.  We both checked those with somewhat easy access.  I think there was wind up on the mountain that prevented the ice from forming.

highest elevation isnt everything. think valleys near elevation where the cold air settles.

Location...location... location. Sheltered from prevailing winds and any direct sunlight for most of the day by surrounding terrain. Relatively shallow . I thought that my go to pond would be safe this weekend because it is elevated and usually sheltered but it was broken up at the shoreline  for some reason. Does it really matter who found ice first? The season has begun.

Definitely a handsome bundle of points to the first one on the ice.

Temps the rest of the week don’t look quite as favorable... think the rest of us are gonna have to wait a smidge.

I'll probably be heading up north either later this week to check out some spots for my next vacation 2 weeks later.
Weather forecasts show colder nights but days are still in the 30's, so ice formation will be slow.
As long as whatever gets formed doesn't get destroyed by wind, rain or rising temps I will be looking forward to heading out soon!
