Yo South PonderPerch.

Yes there is a. State access at Stanley Drive. Make sure you bring a spud. Drop me me a pm . I will give you more. Info.

As I said in the earlier report, the slush and standing water are tightening up on the surface. But still give way as you walk. Should be harder by the end of the day.

Yo Guys & Gals,

Fished deeper water today. Caution, a lot of the ice broke up and refoze out beyond the rock pile. I fished with a couple of my neighbors, Rod and Arther, a father and son team. Great people. Will surely run into them again.

Back to the caution. As always take that SPUD with you. Don't hesitate to cut a hole every so often. The ice thickness out there is greatly variable in thickness after the last warming spell. The pressure cracks have actually opened up in some areas with open water spanning several feet in width in some areas. Definitely take great care till we get a hard freeze. back the next few days.

Noticed they have a big dredge working at the cut. I hope they are widening it and making it deeper. Only fished for a couple of hours . Dinks only and no eyes or slime log hits. Hey, that's why they call it fishing, not catching. ;D Don't forget, spud spud spud.

Who is doing the dredging? Last thing I heard they were supposed to fill an envelope with sand to protect the beach. All that sand inside the pond by Carl island happened when the county was trying to get the State to takeover Sandy Island and turn it into a state park. Nature is going to do what it will. I read the state report on the pond and it's history of the opening. Some really interesting reading. There are pictures where they predict it will go next. I wonder if it does what will happen to the group that bought it reciently . Maybe they can put a toll gate on the opening.

Hey Wood, a local contactor was awarded the bid to perform the dredging.  Looks like he's attempting to get out there whenever weather permits.  The goal was to deepen and widen the cut along with placing the sand back to the dunes to try and replenish a bit.  The money comes from a State Grant that one of the Senators pulled in, Ritchie maybe?  Any help with that cut will help us all in the summer.  Now if we could just get the offshore guys that come over from Oswego I the summer to learn how to park their weekend warrior racers, we'd be golden. ;D

Must be Brian Wallace. I have a buddy who worked for Oswego  county when they were digging the first time and trucking it down the  beach. I don't think with water levels where they a predicted to be it will make much difference
.

Im not a lake specialist but have been around awhile. There is a huge sand bar that stretches form the Pond entrance exit out to 75 yards. A huge sand bar that  flows with the normal wind NW. You can dredge until hell freezes over. The only answer is to put in similar to what Fair Haven has. And that would cost ..............a lot. It would be awesome if Sandy Pond could be changed to a safe haven. Other than that anything done is very temporary.

Good words Kracken. I’ve seen the dredging go on up there in the summer months. A week later the channel was full of sand again. It’s a never ending battle.

Yo Guys & Gals ,

Very interesting info from Woodburn, Stu. Krackin and others.. I wish I could read about the "MASTER PLAN" for the proposed solutions for the Sandy Pond access and development. I know. Patty Richy is a real go getter when it comes to getting state and federal grants. l hope her office is involved.. Like to do some reading on the subject if anyone can point me in the right direction.

Yo Guys & Gals ,

Took a break from the Pond yesterday to hit Chaumont with my good friend Stelladog. We fished out of the state park on the peninsula. We had a beautiful sunshiny day with a slow bite in bathe am, but after moving around several times we got on the bite in the afternoon sitting on our open shanties with the sun beating on our faces. Needless to say, sunshine snacks, catching fish and good company. don't get much better than that.

It was a nice short drag on bare ice. Didn't need the stories either. Far be it from me to post ice conditions for Chaumont, but every hole we cut was 5 inches + and when we left the ice at 5 pm. The ice was twanging with growing pains. Oh yeh , forgot to mention, that cursed Stelladog (ex friend) beat up on me pretty bad :nono: he caught all the big ones and left me with the 8 and 9 inchers. He ain't got no respect for his elders ::)

Yo Guys & Gals,.

I'm still getting inquiries about the Perch TEAM. Tournament. I will add 2 new tram entrants shortly. Again. remember the make up date is February 29th (leap year). We will also print a list of all the contributors of door prizes which is the biggest ever
Thanks to the efforts of Jigger and The Kracken (Bob & John). Our Tournament should be the best ever

Side note: mano a mano, read your private message.

Yo Guys & Gals

Fished yesterday with my good fishing buddy, IceJohn. We accessed from Blind Creek Road Ramp. And dragged out to front of Seber Shores.in 10 fow. Ice was5 inches plus where we were fishing..

Big nasty pressure crack prevented us from getting out any further..

IceJohn spanked me. He caught the first perch over 8 inches. He caught the biggest perch, he caught the most perch
We call that the trifecta. My only win categories were biggest slime log and getting to spend time with an old friend. Sounds like a win-win to me. What do you think?

Boggey

Post Script: When we got back to camp, IceJohn did the honors, cleaned the days catch. Yo Trap, you will be glad to hear , he also did a bang up job on that slime log and we closed the day with a great perch dinner and for desert we got to watch them Dems do there whine fest.

Im not sure about this but...we all seem to live fast and don't often enough take the time to enjoy the moment we are in. so time with good friends is precious memories. Im just hoping (I've made a deal with the Man upstairs 85-86) that I "remember the closet is not the toilet.  ;D
