This was my first year fishing this derby and had an absolute blast. Never got around to meet anyone the triut salmon and perch kept us running for 2 days, or I should say the kids. Us dads were doing a lot of hook retying and baiting but that is the way its supposed to be. Will be up again next year

Mr. Bernier,

I finally had the chance to fish this derby, I have been saying for the last seven years I was going to get up there and fish it.  Although I reside in Blaine, it seemed as though every year something came up; weather, family commitments, or being away for work. I never managed to make it. This year, it was all I talked about for months my wife was sick of hearing about it, getting line and traps ready at the kitchen table, and managed to get my daughter interested in it as well. I was able to spend the weekend fishing with my daughter and a few close friends (we were the ones who brought in the first place salmon from Eagle).  Greg placing first was just the frosting on the cake to a great weekend spent outdoors in northern Maine with friends and family. We all will have memories to last a lifetime from this event. Even if we had not caught a single fish the entire weekend, I feel this derby embodies all that an outdoorsman (or woman) could ask for to pass along to their children. Caring, sharing, sportmanship, commraderie, fun, getting outdoors, teaching your kids to fish and appreciate the little things like time together, all while supporting a noble cause. It truly doesn't get any better than this!

I just wanted to take a second and personally thank you for your time and dedication to the derby and for all of your and the other volunteers, hard work to make this event all that it is. It was hectic I'm sure but it was very obvious you were all enjoying yourselves while working. I will be inviting more friends next year and hope this event will continue to grow and prosper for many years to come.  Please feel free to share this with the powers that be, from the town of St. Agatha, and the Long Lake Sporting Club.  It is obvious the success can be attributed to having the support of so many people and the community. Again, I just wanted to say thank you for a lifetime of wonderful memories and we look forward to participating again in the future.
