You sure know how to stay young. Sleep under a tree during hunting season and take a swim during ice fishing season!

All kidding aside, I'm glad you were able to pull yourself out. Makes me think about how safe I'm really being....no ice picks, no floating suit. Might be time to invest in some stuff......especially considering you fell through with 15" of ice around you. I get real comfortable on anything more than 5"! Also makes me rethink the sanity of the guys in the two full size dodge pickups that drove past me last year while fishing boysen.

Glad that everything turned out great for you.  Scary how fast one can fall through and thinking all the ice is OK to just go wherever one wants to go, just a reminder to be careful and not trust the ice.

I just like to fish I guess.  My mom and dad are the ones that built the dip bar there in Medicine bow many years ago.

I watched a safety video for work a few years back, and it demonstrated how to get out.  The guy explained that it actually takes a bit of time to get hypothermia when you are fully dressed, and that most people panic.  He put his arms on the ice and they froze to the ice, then he rolled himself out. 

Not sure how much I would be able to apply this without panicking if I went all the way in!  Corny, But it may be worth watching....

Wayne I heard about this Saturday night I have thought about this all week and it scares the hell out of me because I/we were not that far apart and I did not hear a word out there. I am glad you are safe. Maybe we should all pack our 2 ways on the ice.
