I'll be there roughly about 930 after a friend who is visiting for the weekend takes off. I'm still willing to bring a case of bottled water if needed. However, I'll enjoy some of the pale ale before I drink the water!

I can bring some sort of dessert. Brownies or something good.

Just fished there tonight. about 85 holes marked one fish and caught that one. 4 others no one caught anything. I was amazed first time there this year and almost skunked. I was from 3' to 14' they must have left for the day. lol

May end up there tomorrow doing a little searching myself.

For those of you who aren't familiar with Sylvan lake/Gene Stratton Porter State Historic Site it is located towards the East end of the lake on the South shore. 1205 Pleasant Point, Rome City, IN 46784

There is a nice large paved parking lot, there is a outhouse just North of the lot in the woods. Just keep following that path down to the lake. I plan on setting up a camo 10'x10' canopy with a blue tarp within eyesight of where the path hits the ice. Look forward to meeting some of you guys there.

He didn't have a hook and line on it Last Sunday or he would have had me hooked! He was having a hard time controlling it in the snow and 15 mph wind!!!

Nothing but foot traffic on the hill, no 4x4's!

hill isnt that steep accept at the lakes edge. lake is about 2-300yrds from the parking lot. not too bad really.

Is the outhouse open? I thought they kept it locked up in the winrer time. Are you telling me I've made the dash to the gas station several times in the past for nothing?? Say it ain't so lol!

Out house is unlocked and was very clean last week. It's a bit of an uphill walk from the lake so don't wait until the last second! It's much better than going to the gas station IMO.

RS is right, the hill is not that bad. The last 10 yards getting onto and off the lake is pretty steep. Parking lot is probably 40-50' above the lake. Nice path thru the woods to walk and there are stakes with rope going down the steeper section of the hill.

They have a sign in sheet just off the parking lot before you get to the woods mounted on a post. There is also a box with a list of rules for fishermen using the site ( fairly general, keep it clean, etc..).
