Don't you guys on foot wear snowshoes ?
I had them on last sat & sun. One lake was sloppy the other wasn't but they kept me above the slop for sure .
I got a set, probably will take them, with the temps turning down maybe it will harden up everything a bit.
You can get a good look at a steak by sticking your head up a bull's a$$, but wouldn't you rather take the butcher's word for it??

Haha yeah here in Saranac Lake every week is like this. Sunday is high -9 dropping to -24. My sister has planned a trip up for months now and the date is this weekend for Winter Carnival. One item on the to do list is ice fish and she figured of all days to plan it for sunday morning. Will bundle up my daughter and we will trec out to a small pond for crappie and perch. Just got a new Aqua Vu Macro today I cant wait. Im sure my 5 year old will enjoy it much more now she has something to play with haha.

I have been looking at them how do they work pulling a 120# sled in 8" of slush with 6' of snow on top?

If your pulling 120# then your a far better man then most. I don't think snowshoes can fix that problem.
Good luck with the atv also in these conditions.
Maybe if you lighten the load the snowshoes would help

The shack is 70# dry add power auger 10# tank, heater, sonar, camera rod bag tipups and a bucket of minnows I'm sure its 120+ If i can get to the ice out side of the snow pile from the plow. I'll be OK with the quad I'm thinking. I'll be running a 60" plow 6" off the ice. We shall see.

Fellas , you guys are WAY over loading for the conditions at hand.
Do you really need a 10# tank when 2 -1 pounders will get you through the day ? Also that 10# tank only accounts for what's inside not the weight of the tank itself .

I did a lot of bush wack 3 day plus hike ins to brook trout ponds and learned to maximize my gear but limit my weight. I would even weigh my gear. I can get all gear, an inflatable raft, oars,  food ,tent, sleeping bag and the pack itself to 45#'s.

God bless those who need everything including the kitchen sink

Your not dragging my stuff so whats it matter to you what i bring on the ice?  2 man hut, both chairs, minnows, poles, tackle, heater, 1lb propane tanks, beer, food, auger, did I say beer. When I go out on the ice its for 12-15hrs. I work in the cold and snow 8-12 hrs/day so when I'm on the ice Im gonna be comfortable doing it. Kitchen sink I think not. Those are MY essentials for a 12-15 hour stint on the ice

Your quite right, I'm NOT dragging it . Not necessarily you , but am reading about how tough it was and how people shouldn't bother going ice fishing because of the conditions. Seems like fair weather fishers to me. Lol
Only trying to offer suggestions, don't like em , then drag away but don't complain , again not saying you

I'm not saying I always drag that stuff but if its a 50 yard drag or i have the atv I will.
Allot of people I fish with don't have squat for gear I'm fortunate to have it so I share. For the crappie derby I'll have all mentioned before + my QF3 another flasher and beer lots and lots of beer I know there are going to be kids in our group that are going to need shelter and heat, probably be a few adults ducking in too.
last weekend I walked 3/4 mile in to a pond in PA up a steep hill. You bet I packed light it was rod bag bucket flasher and auger.

If I get my new auger I'll have to go so I can try it out I really want to see how the propane holds up besides sitting in a heated shelter is just like sitting at home minus the honey do list

I'll get an early start and get off the ice early.
Fish the 1st half of the day. Then, get dinner and a pedicure with the woman for Valentine's day. Fish all day Sunday without catching any flack for it. (If you really want to impress the woman. Take a massage chair next to her and ask for the hot stone and oil with your pedicure. Thank me later.  ;) )
Valentine's day is more of a hurdle for me than the weather.  :P

My wife says your a smart man....i just dont know if i can handle someone messing with my feet!  Or more to a point i dont know if they could handle it!!!! :o
