I recently purchased a eskimo hc40 propane auger and I had the same problem. There is a air purge button on top of the carburetor all you have to do is take something small like a toothpick or small screw driver and push it in you should hear the air come out then connect your propane tank turn the switch to on and give your throttle a squeeze half way and 1 or 2 pulls you should be fine.
