Boat is a 4 letter word here.
Eastsider while I like your prediction and hope you're right, I don't think it'll happen.
Sorry.
The weather pattern would seem to indicate very moderate temps through Christmas with above normal wind.  Water temp offshore is still 37-38, right at waters edge its cold yes, but after tomorrow it won't be.
I saw some small shad swimming around this morning, they should be dead.  So there's a decent amount of water mid 40's or better relatively close.
Christmas maybe couple days later for big bay, new years or couple days later for the shallow beach bowl. 2nd-3rd week of Jan. For 30fow

last year was a freak so I'll go with the norms first week in Jan for eyes maybe in the bays a touch sooner for flats , god i hate to agree with bcons but water temps need to drop  ;D

:o :o Nothing wrong with mixing ice fishing with some winter open water fishing. However, I will refrain from the use of that 4 letter word from this point forward.  ::)    Bring one the ice!!!

Well after breaking the ice off my dock and checking water temps, I decided not to pull the rest of the dock yet.  Wont pull it until this bay appears to be within a week of locking up.
Until then the dock & canoe stays.
Whenever I'm not working something needs to be hooked or shot. ;D

Well I use the canoe or Jon boat until the ice is too thick for my fat az to break.  ;D
Yet I also hope it will lock sooner than later

Drove up north a few days ago too shoot photos of the lake effect storms, was shocked too see all the cricks, back bays and anything that use too be water locked, if it wasn't for 5 foot waves on sandy pond, that would of been locked too.

Saw pics of CuseFan's rod holder he made last year and decided to get a Plano box and try myself.  The wife made a suggestion of strapping them to the inside of the lid to free up the rest of the box for carrying the rest of the necessities.  What else to do on a Sunday in November when all you want is to be on ice right.

Velcro bundling straps..... 30 - 9 inch straps for like 8 bucks I think.  Just drilled holes through the boards and looped them around and trimmed to fit more nicely.  Drilled holes through the top for where the reels sit so that they don't swing down when you close the lid and then siliconed them to keep it water tight.

Now it’s time.....and time to get ready for the Feb. Onieda trip, after a bunch of crappie, Lakers, salmon and trout here!
Ihope this bodes well for the next few months!  :icefish:

Maybe some venison spiedies and columbus bread will go well together on the ice!   ;D

Did this one - will hold 6 fully rigged rods - and the basket last year:

The basket has rod holders around the sides for 7 rods  :woot:and will hold a Showdown 5.6 and the flotation vest holds most of the other gear and lure boxes. Plus it is a life preserver!  ;D

After some research on here I pulled the trigger on a nills convertible 6" auger. I had a old 7" mora last year, so this should be a good up grade. I can't wait for ice.

Obrien maybe the (mods) want you to check with them before you start advertising for the volunteer Fire department, our volunteers are very much appreciated we would be in tough shape with out them , I'm sure if you check with them , it should be fine , can't believe they would be against this kind of non profit organization , IMO
