Ling fishing is the best way to have a group fishing trip. very little effort required and you can always dink off while you're waiting for a flag to pop up. Always catch fish and the ladies never get bored because they aren't forced to stare down a hole all day long  ;) hopefully get to have our annual end of semester ice fishing party this year if the ice ever gets here.......

Pete's tackle Stanley Thumper with a chunk of cut bait.

That looks like something some trucker bought across from Wheat Montana. :o

Would be fun to do a group event with everyone on here who would like to participate going after some ling somewhere in Western Montana or Central area to meet up depending on who wants to do it!

Let's remember this and do this later this month or January when we got enough ice (if we have enough).

Something in that area would be perfect. Hauser, sutherlin, helena regulating. We'll decide sometime beginning of next month.

Can people catch them easily during the day on ice, or is it a night time thing

I'm also in sounds like fun! I've got a few ling spots myself. But game to meet up with you all at any location named plus add canyon ferry to the list.

Sounds like quite a few members are showing interest... I'm in and my vote would be for Sutherlin.  But Clark Canyon and Newlan are just as good.

Night fish is definitely the way to go... just my opinion.
