I thought about building my own...but water proofing it becomes problematic...what's your plan for that?

PVC pipe fittings and Lexan sheet from Home Depot, and some marine epoxy.

That is about what I was thinking for a housing as well. Should be a fun summer project.

In the mean time, here are some clips from the past couple days. Click on them and they should play.

I just stumbled upon this thread and i'm ecstatic. I have the same aqua vu camera and it all works but the screen sucks. I am getting one of those screens and doing the hack just to get the better monitor.  ;D

Just got all the components. Low light wide angle lens, camera board with low lux sensor and auto frame correction for low light, 100 foot cable, and of course the 1300 Pelican Case.

Will post updates when its all assembled!

Any specific brand of epoxy? I've been looking to mod a webcam into a waterproof casing, and aren't quite sure what to use to seal it all up.

Any good epoxy should work provided it is mixed and applied correctly. I would try. To find an epoxy that has some flex so that it doesn't get brittle when cold.

Not sure if I would bother with a webcam though, most are low resolution and very poor in low light conditions.

Thanks. This is a good webcam 720 hi def, great frame-rate. Light will be tricky but I won't know until I throw it under the ice.

Do we have any pics of some of the other home made cameras talked about in this great thread?
