Checked out the ice chart. That's suprising that ice is made so much slower the thicker it is. That's some usefull info thank you very much. ;)

No problem! I spend most of my time at work on the computer looking up stuff haha. By that chart, and assuming that most lakes in the area had between 4-6 inches, and the temp was probably around 5-10 degrees today, all the local lakes should gain at least 2-2.5 inches of ice.  I'm also assuming that we hit the cold temps somewhere late night early AM, and that it continues into the morning.  That should make for a nice and safe 6-8 inches for the rest of the week.

I don't mind the warm temps so long as the ice is safe.   I'll fish in the rain on Saturday and hope for dry weather to take my girls out on Sunday.   Just walked the dogs and the lake is making some great noise.

I'm kinda' happy to see it getting a little warmer and back to normal temps. Yesterday the fuel oil for my furnace gelled in the supplyline and the furnace stopped working til about 2. Then the outer pane of glass on one of my bay windows cracked from the cold. I need to change the hub and.bearing assembly on my truck. Yeah, I had enough already  :'(

I'd be totally happy with warming up to 25 degrees. In fact my ideal winter is 25 degrees the day after Thanksgiving every day until February 28 and no significant snow accumulation.

East central Indiana it is in the single digits. Schools in the area are on delays due to cold temps. Most superintendents don,t realize that it will be colder just after sunrise than before it.

Inside the house it is a very warm 70F.

My rule on windchill is: Don,t go outside naked. Exposed skin freezes.

In my area about 11-12" of "fluffy" snow. That should make it easier shoveling and snow blowing.
Temp right now is about 5 degrees but with wind chill about -6 .
