I'm not sure what the chief has to do with anything. Was just hoping you might become aware of the effort that's been put forth to restore the walleye population on Montreal lake. They've been dumping millions of walleye in there year after year trying to develop a healthy stock like it once held.  It's public information and can be accessed through SERM; you should check it out.  They do lower limits for a reason; it's not just for their enjoyment.

I think he may mean the chief of a FN band, but I could be totally wrong, no disrespect meant but i don't know if limits apply to FN

Yeah, limits don't apply to FN people. It's called sustenance hunting/fishing. Just the way it is, I'd play by the same rules.

I suggest having a second look at the sign entering the reserve; "respect, protect and enjoy". And remember that that treaty rights come with responsibilities and just because someone is treaty does not mean they must engage in an unsustainable and selfish harvest.  A lesson should've been learned from past exploitation on Montreal lake.

Yes, keeping every big pike you catch, and way to many walleye can do nothing but bad to the future fish population. I understand the sustenance fishing/hunting thing, but you have to have some personal morals as well. Montreal Lake has been fished down to almost nothing in previous years, its nice to see that someone is doing well, but if everyone kept everything they catch it will be in the same crapty position it used to be.

I think they have every right to sustenance hunt/fish but saying you are putting that big pike on the wall may land you in some trouble. It doesn't really provide any sustenance....just saying.
