It's 9F and calm at 1:30am in Howell, MI. Lake Chemung was skimmed over earlier as well as a portion of Howell lake by the boat launch. Hopefully this warm up and rain coming doesn't melt all the ice.

I checked out the Selfridge DNR boat launch on Sunday afternoon. It was open water. I checked it today around noon, and it was iced over. There was ice well into the lake also. Still too soon for a walking test, but it's progress.

Here's hopin' for cold weather the rest of the week.

Lakes are iced over here in Howell, 1inch of the clear stuff. Pond had 2 inches

Uh-oh. Maybe that cold weather we've been looking forward to next week will come with a potload of snow.

now im hoping for it to rain harder to melt what little ice we have and dump all that snow into the lake.its not going to make any ice if it dumps snow on the little ice we have now.its not going to matter how cold it get the ice will rot.

Doesn't seem like we're going to get as much snow as they predicted. The amount of snow keeps going down.
