I was told these fish don't count unless I post pics First NJ trip of the year for me, you can probably tell where I was. 2 1/2" of black ice (2" in some spots) with some white patches on top. I fished from 6am-5pm and only had 2 flags, 2 small pike at 24" and 29". Not the best day and not the best spot but I got out there and beat the skunk!First fish of the year for me:(Image removed from quote.)2nd fish(Image removed from quote.)

for sale gas auger otter shanty mr heater 30 tipups two ice skimmers korkers some jig rods $5 obo.
Budd had some pretty good fishing as little as 5 years ago but unfortunately the bucket brigade has been cleaning it out. The beach area used to have some great jigging for panfish and more pike. I remember days jigging up 50-100 panfish and averaging 4-6 pike on tipups. Now I'm lucky to get 1 or 2 pike and the jigging sucks, which is why I don't really care about posting about that spot. It shows you what happens after years of people taking out garbage bags full of pike and panfish. This is why I would never post information about spots that are actually good. Pike are tricky to figure out and each lake is different. It only takes them about 7 years to grow to 40" if there is enough food. All the pike lakes have big fish and more of them than most people realize, it just takes a lot of time and patience to figure them out.
Monksville had 4 inches and 2 guys were fishing today 1/17/12. Very sloppy though.
I'll confirm Monksville northend had 4 inches monday on the eastside but most of the area looked too thin to wander onto. Use care and check as you go.
Next few nights should get it to 6 and lock up other places
;DWawayanda and UGWL also had good ice yesterday but the rain made it a slopfest. Let's hope for the weekend. L
